We caught up with Emma Stanbury, Senior Brand Manager at Arla to find out more about the UK’s biggest dairy cooperative and their support of Magic Breakfast:
Hi Emma, could you tell us a bit about Arla?
We’re the UK’s biggest dairy cooperative with well-loved brands like Lurpak, Arla Cravendale and Arla Skyr. As a cooperative all profits go back to the farmers who produce our milk, so shoppers know that when they buy an Arla product, it directly helps to support our farmer owners.
How did you hear about our work?
We heard about Magic Breakfast’s work through some of the fantastic partnership activity at the start of the pandemic, a time when the food insecurity was particularly heightened.
Why did you choose to work in partnership with Magic Breakfast?
The importance of starting the day with a healthy breakfast is well documented and we’ve all experienced the difficulty of trying to concentrate on an empty stomach. At Arla, we’re aware that too many schoolchildren start each day without receiving the essential nutrients they need to grow and fuel their learning, and so Magic Breakfast felt like a natural partner to help tackle these issues.
How does the business work in partnership with Magic Breakfast?
At Arla we have provided enough milk for over 10 million bowls of cereal, to schools across the UK, helping to ensure no child is too hungry to learn. As well as providing milk for children to get a proper start to their day, we’ve also been on a mission with Magic Breakfast to help children understand more about where milk comes from and how it ends up on their favourite breakfast cereal.
How have you found the partnership to date?
It has been hugely rewarding to work with Magic Breakfast and know we’re helping to make a real difference. Across the business our partnership remains a source of great pride as we’re working to tackle such an important injustice.
What does the partnership look like for the months ahead?
We have a new campaign on the horizon so watch this space! We’re excited for how we continue to develop our relationship with Magic Breakfast and for future opportunities to help ensure that no child starts the day hungry.
